The Honeywell 6DF (Six degrees of Freedom) series of six-dimensional motion-variable IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) sensors measure the six-degree of freedom motion of the device and provide motion, positioning and navigation sensing. The microelectromechanical system technology (MEMS) is used to detect the linear motion (vertical, vertical, horizontal) along the three orthogonal axes and the rotational motion (pitch, roll, yaw) around the three orthogonal axes. Since motion and rotation along the three axes are independent of each other, the motion has "six degrees of freedom".
